On the other end of the price spectrum is Jameson Cummins. Her eyebrow treatments at the Victoria Beauty Salon in Sydney’s QVB cost up to $950. But there’s more to them than wax or thread.
“I specialise in semi-permanent brows but they’re not the ugly, tattoo-green brows you might have seen,” she says. “I use special equipment and natural-coloured pigments specially designed for the face to custom-make eyebrows. The end result is natural-looking and beautiful.” A pair of permanent eyebrows takes Cummins two hours and lasts for two months to two years.
“Most people approach semi-permanent eyebrows little by little,” she says. “After I balance their natural eyebrows I add a little bit here or there and they’re left with beautiful eyebrows that last for months, with no need to bother each morning with eyebrow pencils.” The longer you want the eyebrow to last, the more expensive and painful it is. A small amount to complement natural eyebrows costs as little as $120 an eyebrow and is virtually painless.
“I use a small, disposable pen with tiny, pointed needles that lift a layer or two of skin and put in a tiny amount of light-coloured ink,” she says. “It fades after two months and you can barely feel it getting done.”
